Mid Week League 2022

MWRRL

Since 2016, Arrows have paid fees for any current Arrows member to enter any, or all
of the races in the MWRRL - the Mid-Week Road Race League. There are typically 4
x 10k races run for Division 1 and the same for Divisions 2 and 3 (who run together) that
count towards the league for individual and team. There is an additional 5th race
billed a “mob-match” which is done just for fun for all the Divisions. (Arrows are currently Div 2)

Since we started racing in the league in 2016, we’ve been flip-flopping between
Division 2 and 3 as we get promoted / demoted. Attendance has ranged between 5-35
people with races done across Herts and North London with a variety of locations
from Harlow, Royston, Hitchin and Stevenage. We even hosted a race in
Harpenden in 2019 for over 400 runners!

The races were cancelled in 2020 and then run virtually in 2021 – just for fun! We
have our own Strava segment route as an out and back from Rothamsted Park to
the bottom of the Holly Lane steps on the Nickey Line. The route can be found here.

 Fixture dates for 2022 :

18th May - Hitchin
25th May - Ware
1st June - Harlow
30th June - Royston
6th July - Welwyn Mob Match (all leagues)

All start at 7:45 unless stated otherwise.

The format is similar to the Sunday League Cross Country, but

- is run on the road (typically)

- during the week (Tues – Thurs)

- starts at 7:45pm at various locations around Hertfordshire

- does not involve mud

- still fun, free to members and has a selection of food supplied by organisers

We'll be running against many of the same clubs in the Sunday League with 12 men
and 8 ladies scoring for the Senior Teams, then 6 men or 4 ladies scoring for
Veterans.

Logistics for the races:

1) We may be asked to preregister interest – give us your name, membership
number, date of birth and running category (for normally the first racing day of
the season)

2) Advise us if Arrows is your 2nd claim club.

3) You will be allocated a race number / bib. Keep this for the WHOLE season!
Do not destroy it. Try to remember safety pins!

4) Turn up, run the race, record your results with your team

5) Recover by eating cake

Post-race: keep an eye on results at http://www.runherts.com/mwrrr.htm or when
shared / published on Facebook. Advise of any issues / amendments needed.

Don't Forget:  bring the number you got from an earlier race

Normally you will be advised by email of the dates and logistics – such as meeting
times, locations and car sharing options. The Arrows Facebook group is a great
location for more information “on the go”.
