New Members Invitation

Are you thinking about joining our club but not sure if it's for you? Or do you fancy trying out a club run with other new joiners to check you can run ok?

If you haven't been to a running club before or are fairly new to running, we understand that running clubs can seem a little intimidating and people are unsure if it’s right for them. Harpenden Arrows is a really friendly club that welcomes all sorts of runners!

A club such as Harpenden Arrows is ideal for people who’ve run by themselves in the past but want the support you can get from running with others, or people who've finished a learn to run course and are interested in taking their running further. 

If you'd like to come along one night (please email our Membership Secretary This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. first) we will:

- Give you an introduction to the things we do at the club and how we organise our club runs

- Do a few warm up exercises before we run

- Get you to try out a group run with other new and existing members that run at a similar pace to you. We typically run 4 miles as a minimum in our regular groups. We will look after you if you visit us, but if you're not up to this distance there are some other running groups in the local area that may better suit your ability, and we'd be happy to help you find one. 

- Show you some stretching exercises - a must after every run you do

- There will be a chance for some questions & answers (over a bit of tea and cake if its a cake night!) and the time to meet other members in an informal setting 

We generally ask that new members can run at least at 12.5 minutes per mile. If you're not sure, then this is the right time to find out - everyone will be looked after and we'll split into smaller groups if we need to. There's no need to be nervous.

If you're a confident / experienced runner and just want to get stuck in, you’re welcome to come any evening to and we will explain how the club and club nights work - you're then more than welcome to join the rest of the club and go out on one of our 4, 5 or 6 mile runs. Someone will make sure you start in the right group.
