Arrows Kit

Members can order items of kit directly from our online suppliers, IPro Sports, at our club shop:
https://www.iprosports.co.uk/club-zone/harpenden-arrows/

Club vests or t-shirts (in our club colours of red and white) are required for participating in
our annual cross-country league and Mid-week Road Race League, so if you fancy joining
us for these events, you should order yourself a top. They can take a couple of weeks to be
delivered, so try to plan in advance (but someone will be able to lend you a top if it doesn’t
arrive in time)!

We stock a variety of other kit – hoodies, jackets, beanies, caps, and hi-viz options for those
dark, winter nights. If you have any ideas about other items you would like to see
emblazoned with an Arrows logo, please drop a line to your Kit Secretary –

Kit options can be personalised with your name or other messages, to be specified when
you checkout on the online store – always useful if you want spectators to cheer you on by
name at the end of your race!

Club Colours - some background

Harpenden Town Coat of Arms features red and white stripes (full description here) so it was natural for the Arrows to adopt the Harpenden colours. Officially we run in red vests with white side panels and black shorts. (Yes it really is that specific!)

There are a couple of local clubs with 'similar' colours - but ours is best of course!

Ampthill and Flitwick Flyers run in red with a white diagonal.
Watford Joggers run in red and white quarters
Bungay Black Dog run in red.. with a black dog... well you get the idea!

As some of you know the club orginally formed under the name of Harpenden Aro Runners because we met at Aro sports. But we always called ourselves 'The Arrows'. There's lots of clubs out there called 'harriers' or 'joggers', 'runners' or athletics clubs but as far as we know we ARE the Arrows!

When we changed the name we asked one of our members - Artist Johjo Wood  to come up with a new logo. The result is a fabulous runner sprinting along a stylised arrow.

Once the logo was incorporated onto our red and white kit - front and back - the result was an excellent, easy to spot design for our club kit.

Why do we need it?

Well, in order to be incorporated in either ARC or England Athletics we HAVE to declare our club colours and they have to be approved. (They have to be sufficiently different to other local clubs).

When we run certain events we are expected to wear them - eg the Cross Country leagues

They are also excellent for allowing members to spot each other at events and they also serve as a fantastic advertisment for the club - attracting new members every time we go out in force.

Even on the away marathons we've met up with people who've said they are local and might like to meet up with us.
